LG WebOS - Solid Plex Support
LG's WebOS Plex app is one of the better built-in TV apps. It supports most common formats and handles 4K HDR well. Still, for the absolute best compatibility, a dedicated streaming device is recommended.
Open the Plex app on your LG TV:
Full quality when on your home network.
Full quality from outside your home.
Essential for best quality - plays original files without conversion.
Allows minor format changes without full re-encoding.
This setting unlocks full 4K HDR capability:
Enables 4K @ 60Hz and HDR support. Without this, you're limited!

Even though you're using the built-in app (not an external device), this setting affects overall TV HDR processing. Keep it enabled!

For OLED TVs
If you have an LG OLED, "Cinema" or "Filmmaker Mode" is ideal. OLED panels have perfect blacks and infinite contrast - let the content shine without extra processing!
Eliminates the soap opera effect for natural, cinematic motion.
TruMotion Options Explained
OFF: No motion processing - purest cinematic look.
Cinema Clear: Minimal processing, reduces judder without soap opera effect.
Natural / Smooth: Adds motion interpolation - avoid for movies!

LG OLEDs handle HDR beautifully. For Dolby Vision content, the TV will automatically switch to Dolby Vision mode - just make sure your content is in DV format!

- Start playing a movie in Plex
- Check playback info for "Direct Play"
- For HDR content, look for HDR/Dolby Vision logo on screen
- Press the green button on LG remote to see current picture mode

- Verify you're in the correct picture mode (Cinema/Filmmaker)
- Check if Dynamic Tone Mapping is on
